Vietnam conflict

The Vietnam conflict affects me a little because it was forty years ago. I think if I were to grow up more near the conflict, it would have affected me more. The only thing that affects me is how many of the vets from that war are now homeless and bums. It's amazing because we now praise our veterans and care about them more than ever.

    I wouldn't use the word "bums". It's offensive. The word "homeless" suffices. You can delete my comment after you fix it, if you'd like. : )

    Your first sentence ... this is what it says ... The Vietnam conflict affects me a little because it was forty years ago, which means that Because it was forty years ago, the Vietnam conflict affects you. That's not why it affects you. I think what you meant to say was, "The Vietnam conflict affects me only a little because it happened forty years ago."
